Mom and Dad have been proudly parading these little goslings all around the creek for almost two weeks now. I just love to look out the window, or turn from gardening and see these little guys sailing along in perfect formation behind Mom. Sometimes they come to visit!

“Take a few pictures,” I said on the way out the door, ”the azaleas are pretty, and they’ll be faded soon.”
My husband grumbled about having other things to do, but then sent me this fabulous array of photos! I think he might have actually had fun!
We are very blessed with an older home, with older plantings of a fuchsia colored azalea that is rarely available in our area, sweet lilacs that bloom for 10 days, if that long, and beautiful purple iris that smell like grape coolaid (yes!)! We have added a few things over the years: two yellow Lady Banks roses, because one wouldn’t be big enough (Ha! little did we know!); lots of day lilies, that, like bunnies, have multiplied into even more lilies; Bath’s pinks, baby pink landscape roses, and assorted other perennials some that have flourished and others that…didn’t. Come spring, we are regularly charmed with a welcome palette of color moving around the yard. Something interesting starts to bloom over here, when something else over there is fading back …
Right now, the Ligustrum is blooming. There is a hedge of it along the road by the water and when the wind blows, the scent carries on the breeze, just enough, to sweeten the air every so slightly.

You might wonder about the son…
Yes! He’s still around! And I’m actually seeing more of him now that Crew season is over. Practice 5 days a week, plus Saturday morning is not only a demanding schedule, but means that when he is home – he has to prioritize his remaining time: food, sleep, text his girlfriend, update facebook, maybe a little homework, talk to the mother, in that order.
His team was delighted to win a Silver Medal at Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship (photos below)! And you’ll also find a (sanctioned by the son) picture from Junior Prom.
His back, is back on track! The new drug, Embrel seems to be working. Doctor says to stop the methotrexate, and he has been able to run for several weeks now!
